For millions of Americans, treating their joint pain comes down to getting a simple steroid injection. Now more and more studies are finding that steroid injections may do more harm than good for thousands of patients. A 2019 study, following osteoarthritis patients, found that about eight percent of patients were left in more pain and some had more joint damage following routine steroid injections. Top US Spine Surgeon, Dr. Hooman Melamed, has treated hundreds of patients who used steroid injections as a way to treat pain.
