Who we are
The Spine Pro is the Beverly Hills practice of Dr. Hooman Melamed, an orthopedic spine surgeon. This website explains spine conditions, the procedures Dr. Melamed performs, and what patients can expect before and after surgery.
People read health information when they are deciding about their own care, so we hold it to a higher standard than ordinary marketing copy. The goal is to help you understand your diagnosis and your options before you see a doctor, in plain language and with the evidence in view. This page explains how that content is prepared, checked and corrected.
Who writes and reviews the content
Dr. Hooman Melamed, MD, FAAOS is the medical reviewer for this website. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (certified 2007) and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and trained in spine surgery as a fellow at the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders. From 2013 to 2021 he was Director of Scoliosis at Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. His full background is on the Meet Dr. Melamed page.
You can check his credentials yourself. His National Provider Identifier is 1447350053 (CMS NPI Registry), and he holds California Physician's and Surgeon's license A85644, issued by the Medical Board of California.
Blog articles are published under Dr. Melamed's name. Members of the practice team and its marketing partner help research and write pages under his direction, and he has the final say on anything clinical.
How content is researched and sourced
Medical statements on this site are based on published evidence and on Dr. Melamed's clinical experience. The sources we rely on most are:
- Peer-reviewed research, usually located through PubMed at the National Library of Medicine.
- Clinical reference chapters from StatPearls, published on the NCBI Bookshelf of the National Institutes of Health.
- Patient guidance from medical societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (OrthoInfo), the North American Spine Society and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
- Government and public health bodies, such as the National Institutes of Health.
Most condition and treatment pages include a Sources list. Each entry names the publisher and the title of the document and links to the original, so you can read it yourself.
Software tools, including AI tools, may help us find and organize research. They do not write or edit what we publish. People write every page, and Dr. Melamed reviews the clinical content.
The medical review process and review dates
Dr. Melamed reads condition, treatment and patient video pages for clinical accuracy. Once he approves a page, it shows a line that reads "Medically reviewed by Dr. Hooman Melamed, MD, FAAOS" followed by the date of his review. That date is the day he signed off on the version you are reading. On condition and treatment pages, the same reviewer and date are also written into the page's structured data for search engines.
The review step is built into how the site is published. Each clinical page records its review status, and if any page is still marked as waiting for Dr. Melamed's review, the build that publishes the live website stops and lists the pages that need his sign-off.
Blog articles show Dr. Melamed's byline and the date the article was published or last updated. They do not carry the "Medically reviewed" line.
Updates and corrections
Spine care changes as new research comes out. When a source we cite is revised or withdrawn, or when Dr. Melamed changes how he approaches a condition, we update the affected page. Clinical pages then go back to him for review, and the date on the page changes when he approves the new version.
If you think something on this site is wrong or out of date, call the office at (424) 217-7463 (Mon–Fri · 8:00am – 4:30pm) or write to The Spine Pro, 9777 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 808, Beverly Hills, CA 90212. Please include the page address and what you believe is incorrect. Reported clinical errors go to Dr. Melamed, and if a change is needed we correct the page and update its review date.
Patient stories and reviews
Video testimonials and patient stories describe one person's experience. Each testimonial video page carries the note "Patient experiences are individual. Individual results vary." Your own result depends on your diagnosis, your general health and other factors that only a personal evaluation can address, and a story on this site is not a promise of any outcome.
Patients who appear in our videos agreed to share their stories.
The star rating and review count shown on the site come from the practice's Google Business Profile and are shown as they appear there.
Not medical advice
The content on this website is general education. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan for you. Reading the site, filling out a form, or sending imaging for review does not by itself create a doctor–patient relationship. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Our Disclaimer has the full terms.
Advertising, sponsorships and conflicts of interest
This is the practice's own website. It does not carry paid third-party advertising, and the practice does not accept payment to feature products, devices or services in its content.
Payments that drug and device makers give to physicians are reported to the federal Open Payments program. You can search that database at openpaymentsdata.cms.gov.
