Preventative Measures to Avoid Back Pain

No matter how hard we try, it is safe to say that pain will always be something that we’ll have to deal with in our lives. However, by taking various preventative steps, we can reduce the risk of hurting our backs and strengthen the muscles that we have, in order to give support to the entire spine. When exercising or getting ready to play sports, it is important to properly stretch out your legs and back. This way, your muscles will be able to warm up and keep from cramping. Stay hydrated, as well, during activity to keep from putting yourself at higher risk of injury. If you are involved in any work that requires heavy lifting, such as at your job or around the house, remember to always use your legs for support so you do not strain your back. Maintain three points of contact with the item you are lifting, use both arms and place the side of the item slightly on your chest, to lessen the load as well. How to Deal with Mild Back Pain

If you find that you are experiencing any level of back pain, it is important to talk with your doctor. Your doctor will be able to get you the information you need and see if the pain is the result of any underlying issue that needs to be addressed. You can also ask about how to best manage pain when it is not severe, such as with ice or medication. Instead of experimenting for solutions on your own and hoping that the pain will go away, set up an appointment with your spine professional to see how you can safely beat the pain.
