Harris Foundation. His postgraduate training includes his internship conducted at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana (1999-2000), an orthopedic surgery residency served at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, where he received extensive training in deformity spine surgery (2000-2004), as well as his Complex and Minimally Invasive Out-Patient Spine Surgery fellowship performed at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center/The Spine Center in Los Angeles, California, where he was honored with the Depuy Spinal Fellowship Award (2004-2005). Dr. Melamed completed his undergraduate education, i.e. his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience, Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa Society Honors at the University of California Los Angeles in 1995.
