Stretching to Reduce Stress on Your Spine
Even with the best intentions, you may notice your posture slipping as you crane away from your chair and closer to your computer screen. This can cause lower back pain and additional issues over time. However, knowing when to take a break and stretch will allow you to keep your muscles loose and reduce stress on your spine. If you are able to, make a point to get up from your desk and walk around for a few minutes every hour. Not only does this keep the blood circulating to your legs but it will also make sure that you properly reset your posture when you resume working at your desk. If you have a job that requires heavy lifting or standing for long periods of time the same rules can also apply. Stretch before any strenuous activity so that you do not tweak a muscle or put unnecessary stress on your back.
Notice Something Not Quite Right?
There are times when you can cause damage to your back and not even know what happened. Whether it is while sleeping, lifting an item or turning too quickly, you may experience a pain that just won’t go away. If this is the case, be sure to talk with a spine expert in order to diagnose the problem. By seeing a specialist you will be able to take the right steps toward strengthening your back and reducing pain. Be on the lookout for any discomfort and communicate with a spine specialist so that you can get the individualized treatment you need so you can begin to feel like new again.
